Obituary of Barbara D. Sutherland

Barbara D. Sutherland, age 90, of Penn Yan, NY passed away Monday, August 8th, 2022 at the Keuka Comfort Care Home in Penn Yan. The family will receive friends and family for a memorial service at the Penn Yan United Methodist Church on August 11th, 2022 at 11:00am. A private burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery immediately following the service. Barbara was born in Penn Yan, the daughter of the late Elford and Elsie Braman. In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Paul Sutherland; brothers, Lewis, Elford and Howard Braman; sisters, Carol Carregal and infant Elizabeth Braman. Barbara is survived by her children, Cynthia (Daryl) Bodine, B. Paulette (Steve) Rapalee, April Sutherland (Jim Mortensen), and Krista (Donald) Rapalee; sisters, Esther Elliotto and Joyce McCoy; grandchildren, Matthew (Ashley) Gavette, Douglas (Cori) Rapalee, Heather (Louie) Bourg, Lindsay Gavette, and Christine Rapalee (Tony Brown); four great - grandchildren, Rylee, Alexandra, Emily, and Samuel. Barbara retired from the Penn Yan Central School District after 35 years of service in the Academy cafeteria. She was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and volunteered for the Food for the Needy, the Once Again Shoppe, Back Pack program, and at the Penn Yan Academy. She also did adult-care for family and friends.
