Obituary of June C. Snyder

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our mother and grandmother June Cushing Snyder. She passed away suddenly at the age of 82 on June 24. Born in North Arlington, New Jersey, October 10, 1940, her family moved to the Penn Yan area when she was young. She was the daughter of Theresa and William Cushing. June met and married a Penn Yan boy, Merwin (Mert) Snyder on October 14, 1961. They were married for 40 years until his death in 2001. June was a stay at home mom and when Sheryl and Devon were a bit older she worked as the secretary to the principal at Penn Yan Elementary School for many years, until her retirement. Mom (Ma June to her grandchildren), is predeceased by her husband, Merwin in 2001. She is survived by her daughter , Sheryl (Snyder) and Daniel O’Shea; and son Devon Snyder and Susannah Parkman; and her grandsons Connor (Rachel), Regan and Tierney (Carleigh) O’Shea. June loved spending time with her family and friends. She devoted her time to making sure others were taken care of. From endless shopping trips with Sheryl, having weekly dinners with Devon and Susannah, to spending time with her grandchildren-they meant the world to her. She loved her grand doggies- Ginger, Griffey, Harper and Mookie, and enjoyed dog sitting for them. She had a core group of friends she went to lunch with every Wednesday and went to monthly plays with them in Auburn.. She took a few trips to Florida with friends. June was well-loved by all who knew her. June was a creative soul. She loved gardening, sewing and watching the birds in her yard. She also dabbled in watercolors and quilting. June was an avid Yankees fan, traveling to see Yankees play in NY, Toronto and Pittsburgh with her grandsons. We know Mom/Ma June will always be with us in our hearts. Friends and family may call from 11am to 12 Noon on Thursday, June 29th, 2023 at Townsend Wood & Zinger Funeral Home, 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan, NY 14527.
