Obituary of Lucia Barahona-Farro

Lucia Barahona-Farro, age 102, of Prattsburgh, NY, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at Crest Manor Living Center, Fairport, NY.

Lucia was born on September 10, 1920 in Chepen, Peru, the daughter of the late, José and Emilia (Farro) Barahona. Before moving to the US, she operated a hair salon for many years in Lima, Peru. She worked at Bennett Farms in Bloomfield before retiring to Prattsburgh, NY, where she attended St Patrick Church and cared for her chickens and many flowers. Moving to Penfield with Teresa and Robert, she was a regular attendee of St Louis Church in Pittsford.

Lucia was strong of character and faith, active until ill health restricted her activity. Though her body failed her at the end, she still communicated her wishes.

Lucia is pre-deceased by her husband, Esteban Gonzalez, daughter Alicia Pacheco, and sons José Molina and Pedro Gonzalez.

She is survived by her daughters, Maria Teresa (Robert) Coombs of Penfield, Emilia Cámara of Cancun, Mexico and granddaughter Elizabeth Carrillo whom she raised as her own; grandchildren Martin (Jennifer) Coombs, Ana (Jason) Brightful and many grandchildren and great grandchildren in Peru, Mexico, Florida and California.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on August 21 at 10:00 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 43 Gebhardt Rd, Penfield, NY 14526. Burial will be the same day at 2:30 at Rural Cemetery in Prattsburgh, NY. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Saints Place, 46 S Main St, Pittsford, NY 14634 (saintsplace.org).
