Obituary of Erma G. Mullins
Erma G. Mullins, age 85, of Penn Yan, NY entered unto rest on Tuesday, October 10th, 2023 at Keuka Comfort Care Home in Penn Yan.
Erma was born on May 6th, 1938, the daughter of the late Howard S. and Reita E. (Wallace) Briggs. She was a graduate of Dundee Central High School Class of 1956. She married Frank M. Mullins in Dundee, NY on December 7th, 1957. Erma worked as a District Sales Manager for the Democrat & Chronicle Newspaper until her retirement in 2000. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Penn Yan, Women of the Moose in Penn Yan, and the Council of Churches. Erma was involved with Milly's Pantry, Food for the Needy, Christmas for the Needy, and the Once Again Shoppe. She was active with the Senior Citizen Group and could always be found on Wednesdays in the summer serving hot dogs at the community concert series. Her hobbies included watching the "Georgia Bulldawgs", the New York Mets and the Buffalo Bills. She adored all her grandchildren and was looking forward to a great grandchild in February. She loved old country music as well as square dancing. Her family was her pride and joy. She will always be remembered as everyone's favorite "Aunt Erma".
Erma is survived by her children, Virginia "Ginny" (Rex) Fenton of Penn Yan, Melinda "Mindy" S. (Allan) Johnson of Penn Yan and Roger (Kellie Kirven) Mullins of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Megan(Ozer) Turker, Kayla (Joshua) Scialpa, Matthew Fenton, Ryan Johnson, Katelyn Mullins, Nicholas Johnson, and Jonathon Mullins; brother, Dave (Kay) Selden Briggs of Lakeland, FL; and many nieces and nephews. She truly loved them all!
In addition to her parents Erma was predeceased by her husband, Frank M. Mullins in 1984; son, Michael F. Mullins in 1958; brothers, Lawrence, Charles, Harold, Leon, Lewis, Arling, Howard, Stanley and Robert; and her sister, Sara Hainsworth.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Lakeview Cemetery followed by a celebration of life at the Pen Yan Moose Lodge, 301 E. Elm St., Penn Yan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Keuka Comfort Care Home, PO Box 107, Penn Yan, NY 14527.
