Obituary of Stephen E. Breuer

Steve Breuer, of Penn Yan, NY passed away Saturday, February 17th, 2024 at the age of 81. Mr. Breuer was the son of Ned and Eileen Breuer and was a long-time mathematics teacher in Penn Yan School District retiring in June of 2007. He was a member of the Ellsworth Hose Company of Penn Yan Fire Department, the Elks Club where he served as the Southern Tier District Chairman of the Hoop Shoot, the Knights of Columbus #10796, and was a communicant of St. Michael's Church serving as an usher at the 9:30 am Sunday Mass. In his earlier years, Mr. Breuer coached football at Penn Yan Academy and was the coach of the Wagner Little League baseball team for many years. He developed a keen interest in the Civil War later in life and made many trips to various battle sites, his favorite being Gettysburg where even in retirement he continued to accompany the history classes from Penn Yan Academy to that location as a chaperone. Mr. Breuer is survived by two sons, Brian (Kate) Breuer of Charlotte, NC and Kevin (Adrianne) Breuer of Mount Pleasant, SC, five special grandchildren: granddaughters Emersyn, Kellyn, and Riley Breuer and grandsons Connor and Sullivan Breuer. Steve is also survived by his brothers Paul (Suzanne) of syrause, Bob (Linda) of Penn Yan, and one sister Mary Ann (Larry) Christensen of Penn Yan, plus his sister-in-law Carol Breuer, nephews Adam, David, Patrick (Corin), Chris, and Jeff Breuer (LeighAnn), and Nate Christensen. Nieces include Michaela (Hugh Stuart) and Ariel Christensen, along with many great nieces and a nephew. He is also survived by his very special friends, Carlee and Cody Buck, and his life partner Marcia Dailey. Steve was predeceased by his parents and brothers David and Gary, as well as, his faithful companion Rusty, one of the many 4-legged friends he became attached to throughout his life. Honoring Mr. Breuer's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
