Obituary of Beverley A. Barnes

Beverley A. Barnes, age 86, of Penn Yan, NY passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, March 12th, 2024.

Beverley was born in Geneva, NY on July 11th, 1937, the daughter of the late Eugene B. and Helen (Harvey) Hefferon.  She graduated from De Sales High School in June of 1955.  She married the love of her life, George M. Barnes, at St. Stephen’s Church in Geneva on September 26th, 1959.  Beverley had worked at Henderson’s Drug Store and at the National Bank of Geneva; but her greatest joy was taking care of children.  Beverley was a communicant of St. Stephens Church and then St. Michael’s Church.  She joined the Catholic Daughters in 1963 at St. Stephen’s Parish in Geneva.

Beverley is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, George M. Barnes; her children, Mary (Tom Blind), Marty Barnes, Amy (Neal Braman), Patty (Billy Maher), Joan (Mark Perry),  Paul (Jodie) Barnes, Sharon (Doug Reagan),Lolly (Glenn Green), Matthew Barnes, and Megan (Clint Condron);  grandchildren, Shane Blind (Natalie), Jessica Schutz (Matt), Colin Blind (Amy Buckner), Dr. Eliza Barnes, Patrick Barnes, Sean Braman (Morgan), Amanda Braman (Chad Brady), Ashtin Runions (Russell), Bennigan Maher, Braedy Maher (Billy Eddington), Madison Nolan (Chris), Nicholas DiDuro (Madison), Alex DiDuro, Erica DiDuro, Monica DiDuro, Olivia DiDuro, Margot Perry, Dr. Alexis Barnes, Ryan Barnes, Riley Kuver, Mason Kuver, Madelyn Kuver, Marra Choffin, Lucas Choffin, Will Condron, Leah Condron; Great Grandchildren, Leah, Ava, Rayna, Evelyn, Charlotte, Gatlin, Cade, Vada, and Ruby; siblings, Michael Hefferon, Mary Cherniske, Patrick Hefferon (Laura); and sister-in-law, Teal Hefferon. In addition to her parents, Beverley was predeceased by her brother, Bud Hefferon, sister-in-law, Carol Hefferon; brother-in-law, Joe Cherniske; sister-in-law, Erin Hefferon;  additional in-laws, Joanne and Al Madsen, Jim and Kathryn May, and Alice Nichols; son-in-law, Tim Kuver; and her great grandson, Weston Runions.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 16th, 2024 at 1 pm at St. Michael’s Church, Liberty St., Penn Yan.  Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Penn Yan.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Beverley’s name to St. Michael’s School, 214 Keuka St., Penn Yan, NY 14527 or to St. Michael’s Church, 210 Keuka St., Penn Yan, NY 14527.
