Obituary of Doris W. Palmer

Doris W. Palmer, 96, of Penn Yan N.Y., passed away on Saturday, May 4th, 2024 at the Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home. Honoring Doris's wishes, there will be no calling hours and funeral service will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.

Doris was born in Potter, NY on May 1, 1928 the daughter of the late James (Erwin) and Eppa Wells. She was employed as a bookkeeper by the Knapp & Schlappi Lumber Co. and later retired from Jungle Gardens in Bradenton Fla. Doris was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Penn Yan. She always enjoyed the time she spent with family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela (Harry) Strong of Mentor, OH; sons James (Alice) Palmer of Canandaigua, NY and Robert (Sheryl) of Lehi UT.; 11 grandchildren, Christine (Tim) McMillian, Jonathan (Hyo) Strong, Meredith (Rob) Goe, James Palmer Jr.(Heather), Michael (Megan) Palmer, Matthew (Alyssa) Palmer, Robert (Alexandria) Palmer III, Sondra (Lars) Swenson, Jessica Palmer, Stephanie (Logan) Crawford, Brian (Julie) Palmer; 16 great-grandchildren; her sister Erma (Micky) Mancuso of Naples NY; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, of 51 years, Robert Palmer; her son, Stephen Palmer; her sister Marilyn (Peggy) Knapp; and her brother, Clare Wells.
