Obituary of Kellie Renee Smart
Kellie Renee (Hopkins) Smart, loving wife and mother, passed away peacefully at home Monday June 10th, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with cancer with family by her side. Kellie was 47 years old.
On December 21st, 1976 Kellie was born to Bruce Hopkins and Diane (Hopkins) Eveland in Geneva, NY. Kellie resided locally for the majority of her life, most recently in Prattsburgh, New York.
Kellie graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1995 and pursued furthering her education earning a degree in nursing and phlebotomy. Kellie cared for many patients throughout her career and was employed in many different healthcare settings.
In 2013, Kellie married Jayson Smart and they welcomed the birth of their daughter, Emma Rae (10). Kellie's greatest joy in life was being a mother, and cherished every moment spent with family. Kellie enjoyed gardening, many family vacations-especially to the Florida beaches, music and concerts, and was known for being a great cook and loved hosting friends and family in her home.
Kellie had many friends and was known for her witty humor, charismatic nature, and caring demeanor. Kellie always took pride in helping others and trying to make the best of every situation. Kellie was supportive and always gave great advice. Kellie was strong and feisty, and was never afraid to speak her mind.
Kellie will be missed by many, and was loved by many more. Kellie was pre-deceased by her grandparents Donald and Estella Hopkins, Ronald and Leita Eveland, Uncles Richard, Edwin (Deb), and Kenneth (Cheryl) Eveland and Aunt Betty (Kurt) Hinkal. Kellie is survived by her husband Jayson, daughter Emma, beloved dog Dolly, step-daughters Victoria and Deanna Smart, her mother Diane Eveland, her father Bruce (Beth) Hopkins, siblings Tina and Derrick Hopkins, step-sibling Katlyn Marchionda, nieces Lily and Sienna Jackson, Avery Hopkins, nephews Tred Hopkins and Owen Travis, Aunts Sharon (Larry) Larsen, Linda (Mike) Folts, Deborah McEachern and many other beloved family members.
There will be a Celebration of Kellie's life at a later date.
