Obituary of Vicki A. Dailey

Vicki Arlene Dailey, age 67, was peacefully called home on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 after her long courageous battle against lung cancer.

Vicki, born August 18, 1957, was the daughter of Carl A. and Erva J. (Mortensen) Margeson of Penn Yan, New York. Vicki was raised in Benton Center, where she was gifted her first horse, and her love for horses grew from there.  Owning, working with, riding, and loving horses would be a major part of the Vicki’s life for years to come. After graduating from Penn Yan Academy, Vicki married Ron Parmelee and was blessed with her son Bernie.

Vicki loved and worked in home health care for years. In 1994 she married Doug Dailey. In 1996 Vicki and Doug opened and operated Big Doug’s Meaner Weiner in Penn Yan. They operated the business for 20 years. Vicki loved their business and many of their customers became family to her over the years. She so missed the Meaner Weiner and all its patrons when she closed the business.  Vicki then went to work at the Liberty Bar and Restaurant where she was a cook and bartender until retiring.

In 2016, Vicki’s life was uplifted when her and Daryl Jones, whom she referred to as the “Best Man Ever” joined hearts and home and brought never ending love, smiles, joy and laughter to each other daily. Daryl was her rock and strength. He was always there for her through all her highs and lows. They faced life together, one day at a time.

Vicki lived her life for and is survived by her son, Bernie Parmelee and Chrissy(Rider); granddaughter, Kristina; her sister, Kim Kulp; brother, Rick Margeson; Daryl Jones, the entire Jones family and many nieces and nephews. Vicki cherished all of her dear friends and was blessed for having each and every one of them in her life. Last let’s not forget her beloved Cody and Willie, her dachshund pups, and Cupcake her kitty, whom she loved dearly.  Vicki was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Erva Margeson, sister, Michelle Head and Doug Dailey.

Vicki’s family would also like to take this time to let the wonderful, caring, loving, giving and comforting staff at Soldiers and Sailors Hospital and the Homestead know how deeply appreciative and grateful we are to you all for the excellent care that you provided Vicki, and the comfort that you also provided to her family during the past three months. We can not put into words how you all made her life and her time in Hospice Care more peaceful and comfortable. We thank you.

A graveside service will be held at the Benton Rural Cemetery on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 11:00 am. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Vicki’s Life following her graveside service at 1:00 pm at the Penn Yan Moose Lodge, 301 E. Elm St., Penn Yan, NY 14527.
