Obituary of Brian P. Cougevan
Brian P. Cougevan, 79, of Penn Yan, NY, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024 at home. He was born in Penn Yan, NY on June 24, 1945, the son of the late James and Winifred (Allison) Cougevan and graduated from Penn Yan Academy.
Brian was a 51 year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 832. He was an avid sports fan. He especially liked Penn Yan Academy sports, Syracuse University, NASCAR and the New York Giants. He also loved his truck and taking rides on Bluff Point.
He is survived by his son, Patrick (Jackie) Cougevan of Fairport, NY; step-sons Steve Bolger of Penn Yan and Jim (Matina) Bolger of CT; brothers, JM (Cheryl) Cougevan of Penn Yan and Greg (Lonnie) Cougevan of Prattsburgh; grandchildren, Paddy, Molly, Danny, Allison and James Cougevan, Andrew (Brooke) Bolger and Steven Bolger; great-granddaughter, Georgie; and many dear friends.
He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Betty J. Cougevan in 2014 and grandson, Brendan Bolger in 2018.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 at 11:00 am at Branchport United Methodist Church, 3376 Guyanoga Rd., Branchport, NY. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in Lakeview Cemetery in Penn Yan. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
