Obituary of John F. Flynn, MD

John F. Flynn, MD, age 92, of Penn Yan, NY passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. He was born on August 28, 1932 in Gloversville, NY, the son of the late Francis J. and Florence (Dwignan) Flynn. Dr. Flynn was preceded in death by his loving, wife, Marion J. Flynn in 2019; and sister Anne Marie Romanski of Indianapolis, IN in 2020. He is survived by daughter Eliza F. Flynn of West Palm Beach, FL; sons John P. (Jennifer) Flynn of Penn Yan, NY and Francis J. (Carleen) Flynn of Orlando, FL; brother Robert Flynn of Pleasantville, NY; and six grandchildren: Madison, Mason, Jack, Dougie and Sally Flynn, and Morgan Velix. Dr. Flynn received his Bachelor of Science from Niagara University, and went on to Marquette University to earn his Doctor of Medicine. He worked faithfully as a physician for Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital in Penn Yan, retiring after thirty years of service. He was also a veteran of the armed services, as a member of the United States Air Force from 1958-1964. Dr. Flynn was a communicant of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Penn Yan. Additionally, he spent his free time enjoying Keuka Lake, especially sailing and ice boating. His other interests included RC Aircraft, gardening, American military history, and antiques.
