Obituary of William E. Brown

William (Bill) E. Brown age 83, of Penn Yan, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 16th, 2025 at the Avon Nursing Home in Avon, NY.

Bill was born in Penn Yan, NY on August 9, 1942, the son of the late Harry and Dorothy (Moran) Brown.  He graduated from Penn Yan Academy Class of 1962.  Bill was a proud United States Marine Corps veteran, serving in the military during the Vietnam Era.  He was also a skilled tool and die maker, working for Mercury Aircraft over 42 years, retiring in May 2007.  Bill belonged to the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #2030 and was a faithful member of the Penn Yan United Methodist Church.

Bill is survived by his sister Carol (Alfred) Meyers of Arlington, TX; brothers, James Brown Sr. of Branchport, NY; Robert (Jean) Brown Sr. of Penn Yan, NY; 16 nieces and nephews and their families, Steven (Lorale) Meyers of Galveston, TX; Gregory (Karen) Meyers of Bentonville, AR; Timothy (Tessa) Meyers of Mansfield, TX; Susan (Raegan) Gill of Allen, TX; James Brown Jr., of Williamson, NY; David Brown of Penn Yan, NY; Christopher (Erin) Brown of Waterloo, NY; Natalie (Quentin) Schultz of Port Richey, FL; Kimberly (Justin) Hulbert of Penn Yan, NY; Kelly (Jeremy) Depew of Canandaigua, NY; Patrick (Princess) Brown of Branchport, NY; Preston (Carlee) Brown of Branchport, NY; Kerry Brown of Penn Yan, NY; Christine (Phillip) Palace-Neininger of Canandaigua, NY; Karen (Joseph) Pimm of Canandaigua, NY; Robert (Lynn) Brown Jr. of Branchport, NY.  Bill was predeceased by his father, Harry Brown in 1980, mother, Dorothy Brown in 1999, nephew Joseph Palace Jr. in 1980, brother-in-law Joseph Palace Sr. in 1988, and sister Janice Palace in 2023.  

Friends and family may call from 10:00 am to 11:30am on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Townsend-Wood & Zinger Funeral Home, 201 East Elm St., Penn Yan, NY 14527.  Bill’s memorial service will begin at 12:00 pm with a burial service immediately following at Lakeview Cemetery.  In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bill’s memory to the Penn Yan United Methodist Church, 166 Main Street, Penn Yan, NY 14527.
