Obituary of James R. Parton

James Parton, age 90 of Branchport, NY formerly of Ontario, NY entered in to rest on Friday, March 6th, 2020 in Penn Yan, NY.
James was born in Batavia, NY on June 21st, 1929, the son of the late Minerva and George Parton. He served in the US Naval Reserves and held a Master's Degree in Fine Arts. Jim was married in Union Hill on July 3rd, 1954 to Nancy Brown. He was an elementary and high school art teacher in Rochester, NY before becoming a professor of graphic design at Monroe Community College. While residing in Union Hill, he was active in the Union Hill Fire Dept. and the Union Hill United Methodist Church. For the past 30 years, Jim and Nancy spent six months of the year in Venice, FL where he played golf, sang in the Men's Glee Club, and performed in many variety shows. Jim will be missed by his many friends both in New York and Florida.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Nancy; daughter, Susan (Craig) Hohm of Penn Yan; son, Thomas (Candi Vangee) Parton of Newark; three grandchildren, Christopher (Naomi) Parton, Benjamin (Briana) Parton, and John (Alexandra) Hohm; three great grandchildren, Ellie Parton and Wolf and Kai Hohm; brother, David (Barbara) Parton; sister in laws, June and Carolyn Parton; as well as, numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his brothers, Clifford and Wayne Parton; sister and brother in law, Patricia and R L Markham.
Inurnment will be at the convenience of Jim's family at Webster Rural Cemetery in Webster, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Branchport United Methodist Church, Memorial Fund, PO Box 2, Keuka Park, NY 14478.
