John Lambrosa of Penn Yan, NY was welcomed into the arms of Jesus his Savior on Friday, December 18th, 2020.
John was born in Mount Vernon, NY on May 5th, 1933, the son of the late John and Marie Lambrosa. John served in the US Navy from 1952 to 1953. John received his Bachelor's and Master's Degree from Michigan State University. He also received is Director of Recreation Degree from Indiana University.
He married Mary Pomeroy on January 18th, 1958 in Manistee, Michigan. John retired in 2002 following 32 years as the Health Teacher at Penn Yan Academy. He was a sports writer for local newspapers and was an “Oldies” DJ for WFLR radio. John was the weightlifting coach at Penn Yan Academy. John was a member of the Calvary Chapel in Penn Yan He spent many years on the Yates County Jail Ministry Board and taught about substance abuse at the jail. He was a volunteer at the Penn Yan Fitness Center, was a drug abuse consultant, and lectured in the North East United States. He spent many years as the Director of Parks and Recreation in several cities and was a special assistant to Westchester County Executive for 3 years.
John is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Lambrosa of Penn Yan; daughters, Capri (Joel) Garrand of Hemlock, NY and Jonna (Michael) Statt of Versailles, MO; nine grandchildren, Copper Statt, Garrison Statt, Jenii (Caleb) Hillman, Fraley (Dom) Morris, Eben Statt, Aiden Statt, Weston Statt, Josiah Garrand and Grace Garrand; sister, Beverly Petiya of Delray Beach, FL; and three nieces and nephews.
