Janet Hayton, age 64, of Penn Yan, NY passed away at home on Sunday, May 23rd, 2021. Janet was born on October 17th, 1956 in Penn Yan, NY, the daughter of the late V. Jane (Nielsen) and George B. Jensen. She was a long term employee at Long's Books & Cards in Penn Yan. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, a past member of the 2 Cylinder Club and loved stock car races. Janet is well know in the Mennonite community for providing transportation. Janet is survived by her brother and sister in law, John and Cheryl Jensen; nieces and nephews, Laurie Mitchell, Bryan Jensen, Christy (Jason) Richards, Eric (Shannon) Jensen and Stephanie (Charles) Rudat; and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Janet was predeceased by her brother James Jensen and companion of 16 years, Dennis Zgardzinski. Friends and family may call from 6pm to 8pm on Friday, June 11th at Townsend Wood & Zinger Funeral Home, 201 Elm St., Penn Yan, NY 14527. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 10 am on June 12th, 2021 at the funeral home. Burial at Lakeview Cemetery in Penn Yan will be held privately for her family.
