Obituary of Steven "Ernie" C. Kern

Steven "Ernie" Kern, 60, former Kentucky resident, died August 16, 2022 at his home in Penn Yan, New York. Steve was born March 10, 1962 in Dayton, Kentucky to Augustus and Ruth Kern. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed being outside. He grew up in Bellevue, Kentucky and was a member of a large family. Steve moved to the Finger Lakes Region of New York, fell in love with the region, and made a new home there. He found the area a place where he could follow his fishing passion year- round (even ice fishing!) Steve leaves behind many friends in both New York and Kentucky. He is survived by his mother, Ruth Kern Beck, stepfather Thomas Beck, brother Augustus J. Kern, brother Ken P. Kern, brother Dan F. Kern (Lynn), and sisters Mary Kern Fowler (Scott) and Helen M. Auteri (Michael). As Steve was a member of a large family, he leaves behind several stepbrothers, a stepsister, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Augustus R. Kern as well as his brother, Raymond J. Kern and sister Elaine M. Menning. A private service will be held with immediate family in Kentucky.
