Obituary of Sylvia C. Eisenhart

Sylvia C. Eisenhart of Penn Yan, New York died peacefully on March 2, 2023 at Geneva General Hospital. She was born on May 21, 1929, the daughter of the late Earle and Ruth Conley. She grew up in Penn Yan, the village she loved and lived her whole life. Sylvia graduated from Penn Yan Academy. She then attended the Rochester Business Institute where she met her beloved husband, Dick, of 65 years, with whom she raised her cherished children, Steve, Susan, and Donald. Sylvia worked in administration for the Finger Lakes Association. She always embraced volunteering within the community and served as a long-time president of the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Sylvia worked regularly for many years in the hospital’s historic “Peppermint Parlor”. She also was a dedicated supporter of the Red Cross Blood Bank and the Yates County Arts Council. As a life-long member of the United Methodist Church, she served on several of their committees. Sylvia was a voracious reader and loved gardening, her pets, and following the news. She enjoyed her bridge club and liked watching cooking shows and sports. Sylvia and Dick travelled extensively in both the United States and Europe, often in the company of dear friends and family. She is survived by her son Steve and daughter-in-law Pam of Colorado Springs, her daughter Susan and son Donald of Penn Yan. Sylvia was predeceased by her parents and husband. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2023 from 2-4 pm at Townsend, Wood and Zinger Funeral Home in Penn Yan. A funeral service will be at the Penn Yan United Methodist Church on Monday, March 6 at 1:00 pm. Donations may be made to the Humane Society of Yates County, PO Box 12, Penn Yan; Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, 418 North Main St. Penn Yan; or the First United Methodist Church – Memorial Gifts, 166 Main St. Penn Yan.
