I knew Lydia as my favorite cousins Grandma, and my aunt Katie’s Mom as well as my mom’s friend. She was an amazing lady and great friend to all. Awesome story teller as well!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Sam, our sincerest condolences to you and your family on the passing of your mother. While I only met your mom several times I know she was very sweet and a very hard working woman.
Lydia was my friend's Mom and my go to for plants. I had no idea she was as old as she was. She was such a sweet and vibrant woman. She made this world a brighter place, now she'll shine in heaven with her Lord and Savior.
Lydia was the oldest of 14 children, and I am the youngest. With 26 years between us, I have no childhood memories of her. As an adult, I learned to love and respect my sister. She had the purest heart and was unselfish in her actions. Our mother lived until she was over 101 years old, so we had years of caring for her. Even though Lydia lived so far away from us, she faithfully made the long trip to visit mom and then later, to help in her care. These last years of mom’s life were connecting times for Lydia and I. We talked a lot, and Developed a bond that transcended the years between us. Just 2 days before she died she spent the night with us on her way home from our brother’s funeral. When she walked through the door to my house, I felt an overwhelming love for her and also concern as I saw how much more frail she looked. I couldn’t have imagined that she soon would be with the Lord, but I’m so thankful God gave me the gift of one last hug and an evening together. We will truly miss our sister, but are so glad that she is eternally healthy and happy.
I loved talking with Lydia and listening to her stories. She was a great storyteller and told them in detail. Her stories were absolutely riveting. We will all miss her so much at family get-togethers.
Her love for people, but most of all for the Lord, characterized her. She was always positive and cheerful and uncomplaining even though her life had often been far from easy. She suffered persecution for being faithful to the Lord, believing that the blood of Christ alone could atone for her sins. Her love for the very people who shunned her showed the love of God in her life. She earnestly prayed for them.
Lydia was a very dear sister, both biologically and spiritually, through Christ Jesus our Savior.
Lydia was my “partner in the things of God.” She loved her family but loved the Lord beyond anything else. My life has been so blessed to have had Lydia in it.
To the Garber family: While living in Wheeler, you all became part of our family. Your heart weeps, ours does also. You laugh, we laugh at memories with you. I speak blessings over you all, and until we meet again in heaven…
