Condolences
Unfortunately I will be out of town until May so I won’t be able to be at the services on April 20. I will never forget the night when Bob was part of the Friends of Scouting fundraiser at corporate headquarters. He made the announcement that “we are $10,000 short of goal. The doors are locked and nobody is leaving until we surpass our goal “. He will sorely be missed. Pat you and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers. God bless. Jim Bacalles
When our families got together up on Spencer Hill Road, Mr Gilchrist would always have the fewest -- and the funniest -- words to add to the conversation. I will miss him, and I will miss the anticipation of his mic drop moments.
Bob was an incredible leader who came along at a time when Corning needed him most. I will always cherish the advice he gave me about the importance of valuing family over career or fortune. May he RIP!
I worked for Bob when he ran Information Technology at Corning. While IT may have been out of his realm of expertise, being an effective leader was not! He saw the changes that needed to occur & he took care of things, keeping individuals whole in the process. He was a coach and mentor to me, even after he retired, he met me for lunch to help me thru a situation I had. I only had the utmost respect for Bob. God Bless him & his family.
Dear Patti n family. So very sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. Just returned from San Diego with Joe’s family. What a wonderful life you have had together. With so many memories you will always treasure. God bless n know I am praying for you all. Love Theresa Rossettie
Bob was not only my "little brother", but he was my hero! I am so proud of all that he accomplished in his lifetime!
He has done wonderful things for his community, his friends and in his professional life, but the most outstanding
testimony to his life is his wonderful family. I told him once that he had the nicest, most congenial kids I had ever
known. As was typical of Bob Gilchrist, his response to that was, "It wasn't me. That was their mother."
Though I was 7 years his senior, I often went to Bob for advice, and never once did what he suggested fail me.
Humble to the core, he possessed wisdom and reason beyond what he thought he had! He will be sorely missed,
but never forgotten. My thoughts and prayers to Patti, Matthew, Dawn and Rob are ongoing.
So very sorry for you and your family and friends. He was a wonderful human being. Kind, generous, caring, supportive and a perfect mate for you Patti McAllister Gilchrist . Though I didn't get to spend a lot of time with him what I did was a joy. Keeping you all in my prayers and heart.
PATTI AND FAMILY, Bob was so loved and respected by so many of us. It was a blessing to have known him and been a small part in his meaningful life through Health Ministry. He gave his all to everything he touched and his love of family and community will live on in his memory. God Bless each of you with HIS LOVE AND COMFORT JEANNE
