Condolences
To All of You , so glad I was honored to called Marv my friend, a true gentleman .
My heart aches for all of you , I hope that you will cherish the memories and in time bring comfort.
My love and prayers are with you all
Marv was a true friend whose public service was unselfish, and to be admired. He and Pat were much fun to play cards with and laugh together with Sue and I. He was my partner for years doing fire investigations in the county. He was great help to me in my first election campaign. He taught me how to play the game of golf. A true friend that made a difference in his community in so many ways as a postal carrier, and especially with the Penn Yan FD and the county fire service. Sue and I will always value his friendship and family/girls for the joy they brought to our lives. I say to Marv. Well done, well done..... May he rest in peace.
Sheriff Ron Spike
My deepest sympathy to Marv’s family. I met Marv at the fire department and then got to know him better when we worked together at the Postal Service. He was great to work with and always made you laugh when you didn’t want to. I really enjoyed the friendship with him and his wife, Pat. Rest In Peace my friend

I had the pleasure of first meeting Marv when I joined the Penn Yan Fire Department in 1978. I was 24 years old, single and working with my father doing construction work. Unfortunately my father passed in September of that year. Marv and many other fine men in the Fire Dept became great friends. It was the days of Dick Lane, Paul Kubli, Bubby Nielsen, Ernie Rapalee, John McCormick and John MacKerchar - to name only a few. I didn’t have to look far for a father figure. But getting to know Marv and Pat Potts is one of my fondest memories. I met my wife Pat at a Fire Department function. We have many fond memories of Fire Dept functions. Dancing with Marv and Pat to “YMCA” - spelling it out with our arms - you kinda had to be there. Marv was very supportive of me when I decided to pursue a position as Deputy Sheriff with Yates County. Working under Marv at the Fire Department evolved into working with him on the Yates County Fire Investigation Team. It was with Marv and Ron Spike that I made my first arson arrest. Marv and Pat Potts were two of the finest people I’ve had the pleasure to know. Great members of our community and wonderful parents to their lovely daughters.
Respectfully Mike and Pat Christensen.
Marv was one of the finest people I have ever met. I met him soon after moving to PY and starting my career at Henderson 's Drug Store in 1971. We had a quick connection as we are both Brown's Fans and started each season with a hope and a prayer. I also had the pleasure of talking with Marv about the Fire Department when I was a member of the Village Board. At all times he was kind, considerate, and polite in our many conversations. May you rest in peace my friend and be with Pat for the rest of time. My deepest sympathy and prayers go out to the whole family at this time. --Respectfully, Bob and Marie Mason
