Obituary of John W. Skorusa

John W. Skorusa, age 60, of Farmington, NY formerly of Penn Yan, NY passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 18th, 2021 in Orangeburg, SC. John was born on July 31, 1960 in Penn Yan, NY, the son of the late, Walter and Nellie Marusarz Skorusa. He was a 1979 graduate of Dundee Central School. He married his late wife, Tammy Skorusa on July 31st, 1993 in Dundee. He worked for 35 years for NYSE&G, retiring in 2020. John was a hard worker and great father, brother, uncle and friend. You could always count on him to be humorous, smiling, and always ready to have a few cold ones and have a good time. He had many hobbies but enjoyed spending his time the most with his boys. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, bowling, watching NASCAR, and dirt racing. You could count on John cooking up something good on his grill, and watching his Minnesota Vikings play on Sundays! We are grateful to have so many fond memories of him, and he will be truly missed by many. John is survived by his sons, Nathaniel (Amanda) Skorusa of El Paso, TX and Nicholas Skorusa of Farmington, NY; grandchild, Aurora Spoor; sisters, Judy (Bob) Keller of Rochester, NY, Rebecca (Tim) Whitman of Orangeburg, SC, Aggie (Keith) Woodard of Dundee, NY; sister-in-law, Deb Howell of Penn Yan, NY; brother, Bernie (Karen) Skorusa of Gillett, PA; and many nieces, nephews, cousin, and aunts and uncles. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his wife, Tammy and brother, Moe "Michael" Skorusa. Friends and family may call from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm on Tuesday, January 26th, 2021 at Townsend Wood & Zinger Funeral Home, 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan, NY 14527. Those in attendance are asked to follow social distancing guidelines and to wear a mask. A funeral service will be held privately for his family. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Dundee, NY.
