James H. Parker Penn Yan – February 7, 2021 James Herbert Parker passed peacefully at Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home. He was born on November 12, 1929 in Penn Yan, NY. He was the son of Herbert M. and Aurie Elizabeth (Peck) Parker. Jim served in the United States Army 1951-1953 during the Korean War. He was the proprietor of Parker Antiques and Refinishing for many years in the Penn Yan area. He learned many of his refinishing skills working at the Penn Yan Boat Company. Jim was predeceased by the two loves of his life, Mildred (Millie) Dobbs Parker and Eleanora (Eleanor) Christensen Parker. Also predeceased by his parents, brother William H. Parker, sisters Irene (Parker) Mortensen, Jean (Parker) Bodine and Lois M. (Parker) Bogart. Jim is survived by his sisters, Dorothy (Parker) Bill and Joyce (Parker) Coon, sister in laws Eleanor Parker and Geraldine (Dobbs) Antheunis. He is survived by his stepdaughters Sharlene (Mike) Briggs and , Barbara (Bob) Craig, nephew John Paul Wall and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews who loved him dearly. Jim was the proud grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather of many children in Eleanor’s family. He is also survived by a longtime friend, Silvia Veraska and his many friends at Quail Summit Independent Living with whom he shared a close fellowship. Always the gentleman, Jim had a great memory and sense of humor. He loved to tell stories of days gone by to family and friends. The many beautiful antiques he refinished over the years will continue to be appreciated by his family and former customers. The family would like to thank the kind and loving care Jim received in the final days of his journey by the staff at Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home. Final arrangements will be handled by Townsend and Wood & Zinger Funeral Home. At Jim's request there will not be calling hours or services.
