Mary Ann VanAlstine, age 73, of Penn Yan, NY passed away at the Homestead Nursing Home in Penn Yan, NY on Tuesday, March 23rd, 2021. Mary Ann was born in Montour Falls, NY on March 12th, 1948, the daughter of the late Joseph and Virginia (Carpenter) Rivait. She was a graduate of Penn Yan Academy and had worked as a seemstress for Michael Sterns in Penn Yan as well as other area clothing manufacturers. Mary Ann is survived by her daughter, Renee Sue (Michael) VanAuker and their children, McKaylin and Isaiah; her step son, Todd (Tammy Fritz) VanAlstine and his children, Alisha, Tyler and Jordan "Jay"; step great granddaugher, Ava; brother in law, Leon VanAlstine; sister in law, Jessie (Dan) Ayers, sister in law, Judy Heichel; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, George L. VanAlstine on September 15th, 2003 and her sister, Carolyn Walsh. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 3rd, 2021 at 1pm at Hillside Cemetery in Dundee, NY. As Mary Ann was a breast cancer survivor, please consider making a contribution to a cancer center or organization of one's choice.
