Obituary of Jacqueline S. Bender

Jacqueline S. Bender, age 70, of Penn Yan, NY passed away on Friday, April 23rd, 2021 at SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY. Jacqueline was born in Rochester, NY on January 3rd, 1951, the daughter of Shirley (Lindenmuth) Lewis and the late James Bender. She participated in the Special Olympics, enjoyed dancing and scrapbooking. While residing in Alaska, she was the assistant librarian at the Noel Wien Public Library from 1977 to 1991. She was a founding member of the Star Social Club and had volunteered at the Senior Center in Alaska. Jaqueline is survived by her mother and father, Shirley and Richmond Lewis, sisters, Donna and Helen Lewis; brothers, James (Judy) Lewis, Rick Lewis, Bobby Bender, and Shamous Bender; aunts, Nancy Sullivan, Nancy Lindenmuth, and Barbara Lewis; great aunt Marian Reish; many nieces, nephews and cousin; as well as many other close friends. She was predeceased by her uncles, Robert Lewis, James Lewis, Donald Lewis and Donald Lindenmuth; great aunt, Marge Rahn; great uncle, Clarence (Elizabeth) Cooper; and her birth father, James Bender. Friends and family may call from 11am to 1pm on Tuesday, May 4th, 2021 at Townsend Wood & Zinger Funeral Home, 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan, NY 14527. Her funeral service will follow at 1pm.
