Obituary of Dolores F. Gokey

Dolores F. ( Dolly) Gokey age 77 passed a away at home on June 4, 2021. Born May 19, 1944 to Francis and Blanche (Lewis) Hebert of Ticonderoga, NY. Dolly attended Chilson Rd. school #2 and Ticonderoga Senior High School. In 1960 Dolly met the love of her life John (Jack) Gokey. They married Nov. 4, 1961 and were together for 55 years. Dolly and Jack moved to Long Island, where Jack worked for PanAm. 1962 they moved back to “ Ti “ to start a family. In 1967 they moved their family to Prattsburgh, NY. She worked at Steuben foods, was in home health care and retired as a C.N.A. from The Homestead in 2010. Soon after retiring she was diagnosed with lung cancer, which she battled for 10 years. She had spunk and was a fighter. Dolly adored, cherished and was so proud of her family. Dolly also enjoyed her amazing friends, the young, old and the ones who have passed. From having morning coffee with the “gang” to playing eucher to going to bingo. She was so thankful and loved all that helped her through difficult times, especially the loss of her husband. Dolly is survived by children Marie ( Thomas) Walters of Branchport, William ( Bonnie) Gokey of Prattsburgh. Grandsons, James ( Meghan) Walters of Branchport, Jason(Kerrie) Walters of Fuquay Varina, NC and Jared ( Melissa Martisch) Walters of Branchport. Great Grandchildren, Wyatt, Colt, Ryder, the newest addition Audriana, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, parents, brother Ted, sister Patty, brothers in law Mel, Fred and Howard, sisters in law Pat and Lynn, nieces Debra and Michelle and nephews Ron and Bruce. A Celebration of Dolly’s life and legacy will be held on June 27, 2021 at the American Legion, 53 N. Main St., Prattsburgh,NY from 1pm to 5pm. A private family committal service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Oncology dept. of Clifton Springs Hospital, 6 Ambulance Dr., Clifton Springs, NY 14432.
