Obituary of Viola Pauline Millerd

Viola Pauline Jensen Millerd, age 92, passed away on Saturday, September 25th, 2021 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital with loving family at her bedside.
Viola was born in the Town of Benton, NY on January 11th, 1929, the daughter of the late Peter and Dagny Jensen. She worked as a seamstress at Michael Sterns and Allison's. Upon retirement she moved with her life long husband, Oakleigh, from the country to a quaint home in the Village of Penn Yan. She spent her retirement gardening, traveling and mostly enjoyed entertaining family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Charles (Lynda) Millerd of Stanley, NY; daughters Diana Chapman of Hellertown, Pa., Linda (Danny) Hibbard of Wylie, Texas, Barbara Spacek of Penn Yan, N.Y., and Donna (Angelo) Laquitara of Geneva, N.Y.; nine grandchildren Mark, Erik, Brenda, Billie Jo, Lisa, Stacy, Timothy, Amanda, and Sara; seven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; as well as, several nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 71 years, Oakleigh J. Millered; brother Gordon Jensen; sisters, June Brinks and Betty Dane; and son-in-laws, Bruce Chapman and Charlie Spacek.
There will be no prior calling hours as per Viola’s request. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 30th, 2021 at 1pm at Bellona Cemetery in Bellona. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to Ontario-Yates Hospice, 756 PreEmption Rd., Geneva, NY 14456.
