Obituary of Beverly J. Oben
Please share a memory of Beverly to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Beverly Jane Oben passed away peacefully at home in her sleep on October, 20, 2021. She was born in Owego, New York on November 30, 1943, the daughter of the late Fred T. and Delphine E. Westbrook. She initially studied music at Fredonia College where she graduated with a degree in education. Following a 30-year career as an elementary school teacher in the Rochester City School District, she retired in 1998 to the Oben’s home on Keuka Lake. In retirement she took up oil painting and produced many beautiful renderings of local vistas and favorite subjects. She was a member of the Yates County Arts Council and the Penn Yan Art Guild. She was also an avid card player, and thoroughly enjoyed hosting weekly gatherings with friends. As a doting mother and grandmother, she never forgot to note a birthday or other special event. She leaves behind her loving husband Bill Oben, her son Keith (Beth) Woodward of Pittsford, NY; daughter Kelly (Don) Roberts of Evanston, IL; daughter Carrie (Steve) Moulton of Pittsford, NY, and eight grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother Fred (Deborah) Westbrook of Owego, NY; sister Arlene Hanson of Rochester, NY; and several nieces and nephews. She was a lovely, gentle lady and will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. In keeping with her wishes there will be no formal farewell gathering beyond immediate family. However, the family welcomes hearing from friends. Memories of Beverly may be shared at www.townsendwoodzinger.com.
