Obituary of Samuel William Whiting

Samuel W. Whiting, age 61, of Prattsburgh, NY passed away Wednesday, March 2nd, 2022 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Samuel was born in Quincy, MA on November 12th, 1960, the son of Samuel Brooks and Shirley (Hill) Whiting. He married Shawn M. Lafler on September 16th, 2000 at Red Jacket Park in Penn Yan, NY. He worked as a cellar master for Dr. Konstantine Frank Winery in Hammondsport, NY and retired in February of 2021. There wasn't a song he didn't like or a beat he could pass up. He loved dancing. He danced with everyone but nothing he loved more than dancing with his wife. He was an avid golfer in his younger years but could see him on the course at Majestic Hills when he had the time. He loved a good sci-fi book, movies and television on his free time at home. His biggest love in life were his family and friends and with him there was no line between the two. He served in the Massachusetts National Guard and transferred to the Army Reserves in California with 6 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Shawn (Lafler) Whiting; daughter, Christy Wheeler of Prattsburgh; sons, Adrian (Tabatha) Whiting of Cuba, NY, Josh Roth and Cory Roth both of Penn Yan, NY; granddaughters, Dylan and Kodi Wheeler, as well as, fourteen grandchildren; sisters, Stacey Whiting of Braintree, MA and Saundra Marganella of East Bridgewater, MA; brothers, Stephen Whiting of Lansing, NY, Michael Nasuti of Weymouth, MA, Gregg Wielhouwer of Edrich, MA, Bob Lowell of Townsend, MA, Chris Donald of Texas, and Jose Diaz of Penfield, NY.. He was predeceased by his parents, Samuel B. and Shirley Whiting of Weymouth, MA; paternal grandparents, Samuel W. and Christine C. Whiting of Hingham, MA; and maternal grandparents, Fredrick R. and Marion T. Hill.
