One of Mama’s comments about me when Tere and I were first dating was “El es un buen pobre.” because I always ate whatever was put on the table. And the only objection she voiced when I asked for Tere’s hand in marriage was “You know, she doesn’t know how to cook.” But Tere must have gotten her mother’s gene for the “buen sazón” as anyone who has eaten her cooking can attest.
