Obituary of Robert C. DelBono

Robert “Bob” Charles DelBono, age 81 of Penn Yan, NY passed away on Friday, February 14th, 2020. Bob was born on August 7th, 1938 in NYC, the son of the late, Louis and Prima (Tamborlani) DelBono. Bob is well known in Yates County both as a former long time principal of Dundee Elementary School and a current long time resident of Penn Yan. Bob started his career in education teaching 4th grade in Elmira as a young man from NYC. In 1969, Bob and Margy along with their two kids moved from Elmira, NY to Penn Yan where he accepted the principal position in Dundee. Bob remained as principal in Dundee for 29 years until he retired in 1998. While at Dundee, Bob was instrumental in shaping and guiding the lives of countless children. Bob has done random acts of kindness anonymously over the years. He also support numerous organizations such as St. Jude's and the NAACP in the 1960's. Bob enjoyed playing golf, socializing and spending time with his seven grandchildren. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Margaret “Margy” of 59 years, his two children, Susan (Greg) and John (Helena), along with his adoring grandchildren Gregory, William, Johnny, Caroline, Nicole, Sean, and Ryan. Friends and family may call from 5pm to 8pm on Wednesday, February 19th, 2020 at Townsend-Wood & Zinger Funeral Home, 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan, NY. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael's Church, Liberty St., Penn Yan, NY on Thursday, February 20th at 1pm.
