Condolences
Susan and I were first cousins, our mothers (Dorothy and Gladys) were sisters. We were very close and enjoyed playing together often with our other cousin Nancy (her mother was Doris- another sister of our mothers) Dunton- we were all born just a few months apart. We tromped through the woods, played games outside and made up pretend plays. Nancy died from a car accident when she was a teenager- terrible tragedy. We were not really dolly girls but then Carolyn came along and Susan was very good about sharing this real-life dolly to play with. When the Patti Duke show came out in 1963 we pretended we were identical cousins like in the show and would switch clothes when we played together. When our mothers called us we would wave back pretending to be each other. We thought that if we could fool people we would go to each other's school and try it there. She went to Prattsburgh, I went to Penn Yan. Susan was slimmer, I was taller- it never worked but we had fun with it! We had dance routines that we learned together- our favorite was These Boots Are Made For Walking by Nancy Sinatra. Good times with a dear sweet cousin. Carolyn, my brother Danny and Skipper even joined in- but he might not admit it!
Prayers and hugs to Skipper and Carolyn as they move forward without Susan in their lives.
Susan's Aunt Gladys and Uncle Gordon were very sad to hear of Susan's passing. Susan would often stop at Vienna Gardens to see her Aunt Gladys when she was in the area. My mother always appreciated her stopping in to see her. And it was always great to catch up with Susan at the Conley reunions. She had a great little laugh and chuckle, usually followed by a one-line comment that was funny. Such a kind sweet person. It's hard to lose the good ones!!
