I will certainly miss Janet's friendly ways! Always there to speak and chat with you. She was taken from us way too soon. My condolences to her family
When my cousin Janet and I were 8 or 9 we use to play Janet’s favorite game called “store”. She set up her bedroom like a variety store and put price tags on her games and toys. She had a cash register, play money and 2 part receipt books set up on a small table for the sales counter. I was always the shopper and I always received a receipt for my purchases. I don’t remember if the bags were paper or plastic ( ok they were paper... they didn’t have plastic shopping bags BACK THEN) but I do remember having fun shopping at Janet’s store. When i grew up I moved away and would visit my mom in Penn Yan regularly. My visit always included a trip to Longs Book Store to say hi to Janet and to buy office supplies I needed for my own business. Janet was the buyer for Longs Book Store and I would often see her at the Gift shows where she would always stop by my booth for a hug. Janet’s talent as a buyer made Longs Book Store a one of a kind place and very successful when many independent book stores closed under the pressure of the big box book sellers. Janet was born, raised, lived and died near Keuka Lake called The Jewel of the Finger Lakes. Janet was also a Jewel in her own quiet way and she will be missed by me and many others.
I will always miss you Janet. You were always very nice to me and I enjoyed being your aunt. Rest In Peace I’m sorry your life was cut so short. Condolences to the family.
Janet was a very kind, caring person to all who knew her. Our heartfelt sympathy to her family.
I will miss you, Janet Your friend, Steph Martens
I have known Janet for about 20 years as a sales rep calling on Longs Cards and Books. Janet had excellent instincts for the items she wanted to carry and was a real asset to the store. Beyond that I considered her a real friend and enjoyed our mutual teasing and banter. I will miss her and I know everyone who knew her feels the same. Sending heartfelt condolences to her family and friends. Sincerely, Bob Webster
